Truck and Whirl Oreno Baits
Tough group of South Bend baits to pull together. Unique not only in their design and size, but with
differing production periods, represents a line of baits that the vendor believed in and would not give up on.
Musky South Bend Whirl Oreno
c. unknown
This is an extremely rare Musky South Bend Whirl-Oren finished in an uncatalogued red and black color. Body is roughly 1/2 inch larger than the normal Whirl Oreno and note the enormous treble hook. This example along with one in Frog Spot came through Langs, April 2006. Very likely a one of a kind example. Would like more information on this bait.

c. 1938-39 - Truck Oreno
Red & White Truck Oreno with corresponding Whirl Orenos. Note the Bings hook on the one Red and White Whirl Oreno. Came that way from the factory. Supposedly the father of the son who had the bait ordered it from South Bend that way. Came out of the fellows tackle box the way you see it and it has not been altered. Any more out there?

South Bend Upleaping Bass Counter Display
c. 1949
Smaller than most counter displays, simple yet eye catching, with an inset self-framing presentation, the upleaping bass graphic matches the 1949 catalog cover. The action scene surely captured the customer's attention, which provided the perfect platform to promote that year's new and old tackle line. Due to its size this display is unique and somewhat difficult to locate, especially in this condition.
