Beginning in 1923 South Bend began holding photo contest whereby customers would provide a photo of the "big one" or one they meant to catch.  South Bend then would go through a selection process with the winners receiving prizes, South Bend products of course.  This is a magic lantern slide that would have been provided to the dealer for use at the local theater to help promote their store and of course South Bend fishing tackle.  Beyond rare.

Heddon Bamboo Rod Theater Slide
c. 1923 -1930s
Offered free to their dealers, the Heddon magic lanter slide enabled dealers to promote their products in movie theaters. Earlies mention of movie slides was found in the 1923 trade catalog.   Marketed as Slide No. 3 of five available as seen in "The Heddon Legacy" by Bill Roberts and Rob Pavey, these slides are difficult to locate in any condition.  The slides were done in 6 colors, slides 2 through 5 had the upleaping bass.  Slide No. 1 promoted the Luny Frog. c. 1926

Shakespeare theater slide promoting their level winding reels.  Pictured is "The Marhoff".  Based on the lettering font used in this slide for the reel and that shown in the 1926 catalog as compared to years before and after, the 1926 dating seems applicable for this slide.  Theater magic lantern glass slides were provided by Shakespeare to their dealers to promote their store and of course Shakespeare lures and related fishing tackle.  Would be shown in the movie theaters prior to the movie.  Rare
Winchester Fishing Tackle
c. 1929-30ish

Research indicates that Winchester, with the sale to  John Olin of Western Cartridge Co. at the end of December 1931, ended all tackle manufacture in 1930 or 1931, but this is difficult to prove.  However given this date range and ads by the Emrich Hardware Co. in the Indianapolis Times from before and during 1930, it seems this slide would be from around the same time period.  Rare

Heddon Dowagiac Minnow
c. pre 1915

One of the earliest examples of Heddon's theater advertising slides.  The presence of the Heddon minnow with cup hardware suggests that this slide is from 1915 or earlier.  There is some debate as to the minnow, is it representing a No. 175 or No. 100 from that era?  Beyond Rare
